Speeches

On the 20/08/13 I presented my manukorero to the learning centre. My speech was in another language Maori. It was a really great experience as it helped develop my confidence and public speaking. One of the things I learnt was that life isn't fair and when you fall down to get back up. I didn't get through to the finals to defend my trophy but sometimes it teaches you a few lessons. I wish all the finalists that got through instead of me all the best and that they give it their all.

Devon Exchange

On the 02/09/13 our school played all sorts of sports against Devon Intermediate. All the schools that participated in this fixture displayed really great sportsmanship. Over all though Mokoia Intermediate took out the trophy. All the sports other than rugby Mokoia took out. Devon absolutely thrashed us in rugby as their players were almost double the size of ours. Our students that took billets were very helpful and made them feel at home although a few of them felt a bit homesick. Our class went down to watch the last round of the rugby and Devon won as I said earlier the score was 68-23. Devon ended up staying with there hosts for a couple of nights. One of those nights the hosts took the billets out sight seeing and the other evening the billets went out with their pears to the pools. Their hosts have just finished bidding them farewell and given them a packed lunch for their long treacherous journey back home. But the trophy remains at Mokoia Intermediate where it has remained that way since 2008.
